Whether we realize it or not, living in the Appalachian mountains is a gift. The beauty is unmatched. Somehow, too, the mountains produce resilient and resourceful people.
Our communities are changing now more than ever. Our heritage and legacy must not be lost.
Who is the Warwoman that portions of Rabun County, GA is named after? It depends on who you ask. One thing is sure. Stories describe this person as brave, unwavering, resourceful, and a trusted advisor of war and peace.
War Woman Outdoors, LLC was created with this spirit in mind. The self-designed logo depicts the Warwoman overlooking our mountain valleys. Is that a red dot or a rising sun? You decide. War Woman Outdoors, LLC exists to encourage you to go outside, be a doer and protector. Hunt. Fish. Practice. Stay on target.
MY STORY
I grew up to love the outdoors. My childhood was spent in Otto, NC. Summers were spent with cousins “in the holler” outside, playing either in the woods or out in the hayfield. While our grandparents were alive, we enjoyed food from the garden and the best family Sunday dinners around. Papaw cooked for about 15 of us. He and Mamaw lived simple lives, working the land.
The first shot I ever fired was from a Mossberg pump shotgun, barefoot off the front porch. I don’t know who was more nervous – me or my Dad. During my teenage years, I accompanied some deer hunt expeditions. Then I met my husband Jeb. We settled down near his family in Rabun County.
Fast forward several years. During the pandemic, while bored and isolated, I decided to purchase a handgun and practice target shooting. I quickly realized I needed help with gun selection and finding a place accessible to practice shooting.
To help myself and others, I have recently acquired a Federal Firearms License, allowing me to facilitate gun sales in Georgia. My desire is to be a resource to people in Rabun County. I can answer questions about gun selection, acquire guns and the like, do FFL transfers, and provide ammunition and offer accessories to help you stay on target.
